The Regina Silver Foxes are responsible for an important assist off the ice.
The Silver Foxes, a secondyear franchise in the Prairie Junior Hockey League, are holding Special Olympics Night on Saturday.
The event is being held in conjunction with the Silver Foxes' home game against the Prince Albert Icehawks (8 p.m., Doug Wickenheiser Arena).
Special Olympics Regina athletes will attend the game and participate in the ceremonial faceoff. Proceeds from the event will go to Special Olympics Regina.
"We're a new team and we're looking to get out there (exposure-wise),' said Robert Dowie, the Silver Foxes' head coach, general manager and president. "We're looking for help from organizations and we want to give something back to organizations, too. It's about building relationships in the community.' Saturday's event will also raise awareness for Special Olympics Saskatchewan's provincial winter games, to be held Feb. 20-22 in Regina.
"We're just happy to help them out and work together with them,' Dowie said. "Hopefully we can make it a yearly thing.'
